Was the Hallmark Channel always owned by Hallmark Cards?

The Hallmark Channel was initially launched in 2001 as a joint venture between Hallmark Cards and Crown Media Holdings. However, in 2016, Hallmark Cards bought out Crown Media’s share of the company and took full ownership of the Hallmark Channel.
